The C52 is a light multi-purpose aircraft developed by the German aerospace company Comco Ikarus GmbH. This model, a further evolution of the popular Ikarus C52, was first presented at the Aero Friedrichshafen exhibition in 2011.
Key distinguishing features of the C52 include new, shorter wings and an improved landing gear system. These enhancements contribute to its superior performance and ease of handling, reflecting Comco Ikarus’s commitment to aviation innovation.
Features and Design
The C52 is a two-seater, composite, strut-braced high-wing aircraft with fixed landing gear. It can be equipped with either an 80 hp (60 kW) Rotax 912UL engine or a 100 hp (75 kW) Rotax 912ULS engine, providing flexible power options for various operational requirements.
The crew in the C42 cabin is positioned side-by-side. A favorable cabin climate is ensured thanks to integrated heating and ventilation. Tall sliding doors reach the cabin floor, allowing for comfortable and convenient entry into the spacious glass cockpit. The aircraft can also be equipped with a rescue parachute for enhanced safety.
Purpose and Market
The C52 is not intended to replace the C42 models but rather to complement their range. This new aircraft is primarily designed for comfortable tourist flights, offering an enhanced level of comfort and an enjoyable experience for passengers.
In the mid-2010s, a contract was signed with Guangzhou Sino-German Light Aircraft Co., Ltd. for the sale of Ikarus C52 aircraft in China, marking a significant expansion into the Asian market.
