Cessna 560XL Citation XLS

Posted on June 27, 2026 By

The Cessna Citation XLS (model 560XL), released in 2004, belongs to the “Super Light Jets” business aviation class. This aircraft is an evolution of the Excel model, distinguishing itself from its predecessor with new Pratt & Whitney PW545B engines and an improved Honeywell Primus 1000 EFIS navigation and flight complex.

The Cessna Citation XLS is the first and only light administrative aircraft in the world with a “full height” passenger cabin. It successfully combines the comfort of a mid-category business jet with the exceptional economy and versatility typical of light aircraft. The dimensions of the passenger cabin (height and width) are the same as those of the Citation X.

Superior Performance and Comfort

Its take-off and landing characteristics are significantly superior to any mid-class aircraft. It achieves a direct climb to 13,716 meters in just 29 minutes. The XLS truly represents a significant achievement in the class of light administrative aircraft.

The Citation XLS+ business jet, launched in 2006, is an evolution of the most successful business class aircraft and the best-selling in the mid-class category. The cabin has been completely refurbished to better align with the executive class of aircraft like the Sovereign and Citation X.

Advanced Technology and Enhanced Range

The most significant external feature is the aircraft’s nose section. It is equipped with two Pratt & Whitney PW545C turbofan engines with a FADEC system, which manages the engines and reduces the crew’s workload during flight. The aircraft also features a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite, with 4 color LCD screens, replacing the previous Honeywell Primus 1000 system.

This aircraft is ideally suited for medium-range flights across Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, and the CIS. The new model retained the flight characteristics of the XLS and gained improved avionics. Powerful PW545C Pratt & Whitney engines, combined with a large wingspan, increased its range by 300 km.

Operational Versatility and Market Leadership

With four passengers on board, the aircraft can fly from Moscow to Novosibirsk, and it can access all European countries except Spain and England. The Citation XLS+ is adapted for operation on airfields with short runways and is certified for flights from unpaved strips. Thanks to its high engine thrust, the aircraft boasts excellent climb rate and a high practical ceiling.

The aircraft stands out for its ease of maintenance and low operating costs. Currently, the Citation XLS+ is the sales leader among all aircraft in the Citation family.
