In 1924, the military announced a competition for a training aircraft, which effectively led to the emergence of training aircraft as a class in the Polish Air Force. Consequently, in 1926, engineer Ryszard Bartel developed the M-2 project, later named BM-2.

Development and First Flight

Construction of the prototype began on July 27, 1926, and it was airborne by December of that year. During testing, the aircraft demonstrated excellent characteristics. By the end of December 1926, a contract was signed for the construction of an aircraft for static testing.

Testing and Exhibition

This machine was showcased in the summer of 1927 at the 1st Aviation Exhibition in Lobzowianka. Although the aircraft completed 144 flights, it was not adopted for service. However, the designer utilized the experience gained in subsequent developments.
