Innovative Design and Engine

Following the emergence of the new twelve-cylinder Renault 4.46 engine, which featured surprisingly small dimensions and developed 500 hp (367 kW) at 4500 revolutions per minute, Marcel Riffard created a new high-speed machine, the C.560, based on the Caudron C.460 racing aircraft.

Development and Production

In that same year, 1935, the Société des Avions Caudron company built two instances of this aircraft (serial numbers 7093 and 7094). These aircraft were developed with aspirations for success in air racing competitions.

Competitive Legacy

However, the C.560 failed to achieve any serious sporting successes in the Coupe Deutsch de la Meurthe races. Due to this lack of triumph, the company shifted its focus to a more promising variant, the Caudron C.561, which combined the design of the C.461 with the powerplant from the C.560.
