The CAMS 32R flying boat was developed by Rafaele Conflenti, a designer from Chantiers Aeromaritimes de la Seine (CAMS). It was built to a Navy specification for a two-seat reconnaissance flying boat, featuring folding wings for shipboard deployment.
Development and First Flight
Construction of the sole prototype was completed during the winter of 1923-1924. Its inaugural flight took place on March 28, 1924, originating from the River Seine.
Naval Competition and Outcome
Following factory trials, the CAMS 32R was delivered to the Saint-Raphael research center to compete against two other contenders for a Navy contract. The competition was ultimately unsuccessful for all participants, leading the military to abandon this specific requirement.
