C-130 Presence in North Africa

Algeria operates a significant C-130 fleet, including ten C-130H and eight C-130H-30 aircraft. Morocco maintains one of the largest fleets in the region, with eighteen C-130H and KC-130H aircraft in active service.

For Libya, the latest available data on its “Hercules” fleet dates back to 1999, due to the country’s closed nature. At that time, its armed forces possessed ten units, which included C-130H and L-100-20/30 variants.

Hercules Operations in Central and West Africa

Cameroon currently operates two C-130H and one C-130H-30. Previously, in 1999, the country had four aircraft (C-130B/C-130H/C-130H-30), unfortunately losing a C-130H (TT-PAF) in an accident on June 11, 2006.

The Gabonese Air Force fields one C-130H and three L-100-20/30 for its operations. Nigeria, for its part, maintains a fleet of six C-130H and three C-130H-30 in its inventory.

Finally, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo) received a total of four C-130H aircraft. However, according to some reports, three of these aircraft were lost in accidents during their service.
