Service on the Eastern and Western Fronts

On November 13, 1942, Brock was assigned to III./JG 54, which was then operating on the Soviet-German front. However, he did not distinguish himself in this theater of operations. In late January 1943, he was transferred to JG 26, a unit actively involved in repelling Allied air raids on Germany.

It was with JG 26 that Friedrich Brock achieved his first aerial victory on June 13, shooting down a USAAF B-17 bomber near Kiel. This success marked the beginning of his combat career as a fighter pilot.

By the end of 1943, Brock managed to shoot down two more American bombers, increasing his personal tally. However, on December 22, his Bf 109 G-6 (W.Nr. 20065) was shot down, forcing him to parachute from the disintegrating aircraft. After recovering from his injuries, he returned to flying.

Last Victories and Conclusion of Air Career

His eighth and final victory came on April 8, 1944, when he shot down a USAAF B-24. Nevertheless, in the same engagement, he was shot down once again and forced to parachute. The injuries sustained this time were severe, leading to his transfer to staff duties after his recovery, thus ending his combat flying career.

Post-War Life and Legacy

In May 1945, Friedrich Brock was captured by British forces at the end of the war. He was released in September of the same year and, after his captivity, returned to his pre-war profession as a dentist.

Friedrich Brock passed away on May 3, 1994, in Berlin, at the age of 77, leaving behind a remarkable history of service during World War II and a successful civilian professional career.
