Blackwing BW 600

The Swedish aircraft manufacturer Blackwing Sweden AB was established in 2011. Just four years later, the BW 600FG aircraft was showcased at the Aero 2015 exhibition in Friedrichshafen. This was a two-seater, all-composite low-wing monoplane, equipped with a 100 hp four-cylinder Rotax 912ULS (or 912iS) engine.

For more demanding clients, a 141 hp Rotax 915iS engine could be used as the powerplant. The aircraft featured a tricycle fixed landing gear with a nose wheel. In the same year, the first prototype of the machine was successfully tested.

Advanced Design and Performance

Its spacious two-seater cockpit (1.20 meters wide) features side-by-side seating and new avionics based on two Garmin G3X Touch flight displays. To ensure flight safety, the BW 600 is fitted with a BRS ballistic parachute.

The BW 600 can be used as a light touring or sport aircraft, as well as for aerobatic performances, supported by its high operational load factor ranging from +12 to -6G.

Awards and Evolution

In 2016, the aircraft received two prestigious awards: the Red Dot Award and the Flieger Award. The following year, a new version of the aircraft with retractable landing gear, the BW 600RG, was demonstrated at the Friedrichshafen exhibition. Two years later, the aircraft passed German certification and is preparing for French approval.

That same year saw the first flight of the new aircraft and its initial delivery to a customer. By 2019, Blackwing unveiled the third version of the aircraft, the BW635 RG, at Aero 2019.
