Service in the Korean War
Boris Vasilyevich Bokach was a notable participant in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, serving with the 196th Fighter Aviation Regiment. Piloting the formidable MiG-15bis, he personally shot down six enemy aircraft, showcasing exceptional aerial combat skills. For his courage and bravery displayed in the line of duty, he was nominated by the command for the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, though this honor was ultimately not bestowed upon him.
Post-War Career and Later Life
After returning from Korea, Boris Vasilyevich continued his service in the Soviet Air Defense (PVO) units. He rose to command an aviation regiment and retired from active service with the rank of Colonel. His distinguished career was recognized with numerous combat awards. In his later years, he lived and worked in the city of Orel, Russia.
He passed away in 1998.
