Breda A.14 Night Bomber

Concept and Development

The A.14 was a night bomber developed by the Italian firm Breda. Following the failure of its predecessor, the A.8 bomber, Breda’s designers decided to significantly rework its construction. Key changes to the aircraft’s design included a new power plant, now consisting of three Bristol engines, and a completely redesigned tail section.

First Flight and Fate

The aircraft’s first flight took place in 1928. While its flight characteristics demonstrated during testing were superior to those of its predecessor, they ultimately failed to satisfy military requirements, and the A.14 shared a similar fate. Subsequently, the firm’s designers reconfigured the aircraft for passenger transport, but this variant also failed to attract customer interest.
