The Burga Monoplane’s Origins

In 1912, A. V. Roe and Company constructed a monoplane based on the design of a Peruvian Navy Lieutenant, known as the Burga Monoplane. This aircraft was notably built concurrently with the prototype Avro Type E, thereby incorporating its best features.

Design and Early Flights

Equipped with a 50 hp Gnome engine, the Burga Monoplane underwent several initial test flights in January 1913. Following these early trials, it was returned to the factory for further modifications and refinements.
