Design and Origins

Several less known modifications were developed based on the Ca.101. The Caproni Ca.102 was designed by engineer Gianni Caproni in 1929. It was similar to its predecessor but was equipped with two Bristol “Jupiter” engines, each rated at 373 kW (500 hp).

Variants and Production

In addition to the main aircraft variant, two more were produced: the Ca.102bis with Isotta Fraschini 12R engines (800 hp each), and the Ca.102quater, which was a four-engine modification. This latter variant was equipped with two tandem pairs of Lynx engines, each delivering 200 hp. A total of 34 aircraft were produced.
