The Caudron C.461 was developed by engineer Marcel Riffard specifically for the prestigious Coupe Deutsch de la Meurthe air race. It emerged as a refined variant of the successful C.460 racing aircraft, aiming for improved performance in the competitive event.
Advanced Design and Power
The new aircraft, designated C.461, featured several key enhancements over its predecessor. These included an elongated fuselage and significantly improved aerodynamics, contributing to its speed and efficiency. Powering the C.461 was a more potent Renault 456 engine, capable of producing 360 horsepower.
Racing Achievement
Two examples of the C.461 were constructed in 1936. One of these formidable aircraft, piloted by Maurice Arnoux, achieved a remarkable second place in the Coupe Deutsch de la Meurthe, showcasing its advanced design and the skill of its pilot.
