Cessna 340

Posted on June 9, 2026 By

The Cessna 340 is a light multi-purpose aircraft, developed by the American company Cessna Aircraft Co. In December 1971, Cessna introduced the Model 340, a pressurized aircraft based on the Model 310, but featuring a new sealed fuselage.

This initial model was equipped with 285 hp Continental TSIO-520NB engines. Furthermore, it incorporated a wing and tricycle landing gear that had been developed for the Model 414, providing it with advanced flight characteristics for its time.

Evolution and Subsequent Models

In the mid-1970s, the Model 340A was launched, featuring more powerful 310 hp engines. Later, the Model 340A II appeared, which included versatile avionics, allowing for instrument flight, a significant improvement for navigation and safety.

In 1978, the Model 340A III was introduced with an improved set of electronic equipment. Among its novelties was a color weather radar, offering advanced capabilities for detecting weather phenomena. This version remained on sale until 1985.

Production and Discontinuation

Production of this aircraft type ceased in 1985, marking the end of an era for the Cessna 340. During its lifecycle, a total of 1287 units were manufactured, solidifying its presence in the pressurized light aircraft segment.
