Cessna 441 Conquest II

Posted on June 13, 2026 By

The development of a new turboprop executive aircraft, designated Model 441, was announced by Cessna on November 15, 1974. The prototype first flew on August 26, 1975. By the time deliveries began, the aircraft had received the name Conquest II.

Cessna developed the Conquest II hoping to occupy a niche in the business aviation market between jet aircraft and piston-engine aircraft. However, in 1978, the company had to adjust its plans after one of the production aircraft crashed. Flights of the Conquest II were suspended to determine the causes of the incident and develop solutions to the problem.

Redesign and Re-certification

Cessna developed a new tail empennage design, and after re-certification, all previously built aircraft underwent the necessary modifications. This ensured the safety and reliability of the fleet, allowing the Conquest II to resume its market presence.

Design and Production

The Conquest incorporated the landing gear and wing of the Model 404 Titan aircraft, although the wingspan was increased with tip inserts. Its pressurized, air-conditioned cabin could accommodate one pilot and up to 10 passengers, with a luxury variant also available for four passengers.

Production of the Conquest II ceased in 1986. By the time manufacturing stopped, a total of 353 units had been sold, marking its presence in the executive turboprop market for over a decade.
