Developed concurrently with the armed Ca.127 reconnaissance aircraft, Aeronautica Caproni designed an unarmed light reconnaissance aircraft designated Ca.146. This model was conceived as a two-seater, wooden high-wing monoplane, primarily intended for observation missions.
Technical Specifications
The Ca.146 was powered by an 840 hp Isotta Fraschini Asso XI RC40 V-12 engine. This powerful engine allowed it to achieve good performance, despite its predominantly wooden construction.
Development and Testing
In 1935, the sole prototype of this aircraft was built, receiving the military registration MM.331. During flight tests, the Ca.146 demonstrated quite good flight characteristics. However, despite its capabilities, it failed to interest customers from the Royal Italian Air Force, ultimately leading to the model not being mass-produced.
