Development and Launch
In 1940, Southern (Southernaire) Aircraft, a division of Portable Products Corp., built the BM-10. This was a light, multi-purpose aircraft designed with dual controls, emphasizing versatility and ease of operation.
Technical Specifications
The BM-10 was configured as a two-seat, single-strut biplane. It was initially powered by a 220 hp Continental R-670 engine, which was later upgraded and replaced by a more powerful 225 hp Jacobs L-4 engine.
Wartime Impact and Limited Sales
As the United States prepared for war, interest in civilian aircraft significantly declined. Consequently, Southern (Southernaire) Aircraft managed to sell only one example of the BM-10, bearing the registration NX17670, severely limiting its market presence.
