Ca.38

Posted on June 4, 2026 By

Attempting to improve the flight characteristics of the Ca.37 bomber, Aeronautica Caproni developed a new light, high-speed bomber, designated Ca.38. Like its predecessor, it was equipped with a 250 hp Lancia engine.

Aerodynamic Refinements and Performance

The main difference lay in the more aerodynamically refined forms of the fuselage and cockpit. Despite this, the speed increase proved insignificant, reaching only 5 km/h more than the Ca.37.

Post-War Utilization

The aircraft did not enter series production, but it successfully survived World War I. Afterward, it was utilized as a trainer at the flight school located at the Vizzola Ticino workshops.
