Caudron C.680 Rafale

In late 1936, the company Société des Avions Caudron released a modernized version of the C.530 Rafale racing aircraft. The new aircraft, designated C.680, featured a fuselage shortened by 0.43 meters, new wings with reduced area, and retained the 152 hp (113 kW) four-cylinder air-cooled Renault Bengali Sport engine.

Initial Design and Specifications

Later that same year, the sole aircraft (registration number F-ANAM) was equipped with a more powerful 170 hp six-cylinder Renault 6Pfi engine. This upgrade led to a change in designation, becoming the C.684.

Evolution and Performance Enhancements

Even before the end of the year, another re-engining was performed. This time, a 220 hp Renault 6Q engine was installed, culminating in its final designation as the C.685 Super Rafale.
