The Cessna 177RG Cardinal is a light multi-purpose aircraft, developed by the American firm Cessna Aircraft Co. Based on the successful light aircraft Cessna Model 177, it was launched in late 1970. This aircraft represented the third modification within the well-known Cardinal family.

The Model 177RG was distinguished by its electro-hydraulically operated retractable landing gear and a powerful Lycoming IO360A1B6 engine. This direct fuel injection engine delivered 200 horsepower, significantly enhancing the aircraft’s performance.

In 1971, the Cardinal RG II modification was introduced, featuring a broader range of standard equipment, increasing its market appeal. Furthermore, the aircraft was built under license in France, where it was known as the Reims F177RG, expanding its international presence.
